We all find ourselves in Mid Town from time to time, and we need good restaurants in that area. Here are some options:
- BG - Bergdorf Goodman's restaurant (American Nouveau) You might not think about Bergdorf's as a place for food, but you should. Everything is great. However, it's difficult to get out of this place on the cheap. The pork sandwich (which is amazing) is $22.
- BLT Market (American Nouveau) There are those who can pull off “weird” and make it look somehow fashionable or even quaint (like maybe Cindy Lauper). I’m not one of them, but the designers of the space at BLT Market are. The food is as quirky as the space, and it's worth a try.
- DB Bistro Moderne (French/American Nouveau) It’s not quite cozy, and it’s not quite elegant. The bright orange and red artwork almost seems garish, yet the square chairs and seven-shades-of-white floor make the space also feel sterile. Ok, the atmosphere doesn’t quite work, but the food at DBM more than makes up for it.
- Free Foods (American Nouveau) With an expansive menu that covers everything from fresh squeezed juices to sumptuous faro and smoked salmon to zen-laced soups, FreeFoods will have you opening up to your inner granola foodie.
- Nougatine (French) The contradiction at play at Nougatine is that everything about the interior (the gorgeous flower arrangements, the blond wood tables without table cloths, the soft light, the simple floral paintings on the wall) all encourage a calming of the senses while the food is the stuff that fireworks are made of.
